Liverpool FC 1 Sevilla 3: How the players were rated

Kolo Toure and Daniel Sturridge get an 8 but the Spanish left back fares a lot worse

Simon Mignolet: Could hardly be faulted for any of the Sevilla goals, and but for his brilliant
reaction save from Gameiro in the second half, it could have been worse. 7

Nathaniel Clyne: Exploited space to make plenty of lightning runs down the right in the first half but his influence waned and his poor clearance led directly to Sevilla's second. 6
Dejan Lovren: Struggled against the pace of the Sevilla forward line as the game went on. Exposed by Ever Banega in the build-up to Coke's goal which put the La Liga side ahead. 5
Kolo Toure: An excellent display at the back from the veteran, snubbing out any attacking threat from Sevilla in the first half, and continuing to keep his head as the game's momentum changed. 8
Alberto Moreno: His fast forays forward disguised a negligent defensive performance, exposed seconds into the second half when his poor clearance then a dismal attempt at a tackle gave Sevilla their equaliser. 3
James Milner: Played an integral part in Liverpool's deep pressing performance in the first half, but made little impact after the break as the tide of the game changed. 6
Emre Can: Busy as tireless as ever, Can tried his best to link with Liverpool's front men and could hardly be blamed for the way the game changed after the break. 7
Adam Lallana (off for Allen, 72) : Started well as his side found space, but faded badly and had become a bit-part player in the game by the time Jurgen Klopp opted to end his misery. 5
Roberto Firmino (off for Origi, 69) : Fleeting moments of magic in the first half - including a strong claim for a penalty - faded after the break forcing Klopp to make a more attacking change. 6
Philippe Coutinho: Played a key role in setting up Sturridge's superb opener, but otherwise was almost entirely absent from the proceedings. 5
Daniel Sturridge: Emphatically vindicated his selection with his stunning 35th-minute opener. Craved chances all night long, but was given precious few openings by his team-mates. 8
