Joey Akan reviews Lil Kesh's "Y.A.G.I" album with Rexx and Ife on The Drop Spot

Have you noticed that Lil Kesh is Young And Getting It (YAGI)? If you haven't listened to his album, “Y.A.G.I” then this review would tell you why you should or shouldn't.
Joey Akan who is the Head of Music at Pulse.ng , an analyst, a critic and a reviewer joined O.A.Ps, Rexx and Ife in reviewing the album on 'The Drop Spot' which is exclusive to Metro 97.7fm.

Talking about the 19-track album, Rexx questioned the absence of 'Shoki' on the list and Joey felt it didn't qualify because of the concept of the album. Ife loved the direction of the album and thought even though the skits weren't great, they 'seemed to be leading to something' but they didn't work for Rexx at all and Joey thought 'the skits were underwhelming' even though a good comedian (Ushbebe) was used.

Joey spoke about the significance of the songs on the album from, 'F.S.U' , 'Ishe' which is directed to Lil Kesh's mother and where he calls her, 'my baby' to the song, 'Cause trouble'.
Ife thought, 'Is it because I love you' was fun and it showed Lil Kesh's comic side just as Mungo park did for Korede Bello but Rexx and Joey didn't dig this comparison.

She went ahead to call attention to the fact that Patoranking was not listed on the album as a feature on the song, Joey thought it was an omission and Rexx said, 'We need to blame the art direction guy(Adekunle Gold)'. Joey chipped in that, 'you also need to blame those who signed off on it'.
It was agreed that the album art worked quite well then Joey said , 'You can see him, he's decked in colourful garb, he looks rich, he looks like he's getting it' The conversation veered back the track, 'Ishe' which was produced by Pheelz and Rexx seemed to have issues with him putting 'his tag on the songs he produced'. Joey and Ife disagreed and said it was fine for Pheelz to do so.
Ife went ahead to say, “ On Ishe, I don't know if it was my ears but the production sounded scattered... you know when some boys are on the streets and they are trying to use the back of paint-buckets to drum?' 'I was hearing that but it was not co-ordinated”.
Joey still thinks, “ Pheelz is an amazing producer,. He's one of the best we have in the country' and that 'it is unfair for him to work only with YBNL” .
Talking about Lil Kesh's rap, he responds to Rexx saying, “ Lil Kesh will not give you poetry... is not that cerebral... Lil Kesh is mundane. Lil Kesh is what you see when you look around, which is his selling point, which has worked for him, which is cool.”
