British woman is ‘raped by taxi driver who held her hostage after she got into his car after a night out in Brazil’

A 27-year-old British woman has been raped in Sao Paulo by a taxi-driver on Saturday after getting into the vehicle following a night out at a restaurant.


Her assailant has been arrested after the woman took a photo of the taxi's license plate.

Police used the information to trap the accused at a petrol station where he was identified by the victim.

The English woman, who has lived in Brazil for two years, said she was kept hostage in a car, stripped and sexually abused before being dropped close to home.

Her assailant denies rape saying it was consensual as she agreed to give him her details so he could arrange to meet her again.

Police are due to reveal more information at a press conference later tonight.
