Trump says 'excuse me' for bimbo comments in interview with Megyn Kelly Donald Trump has apologised for calling Megyn Kelly a "bimbo" in an interview broadcast on Tuesday nearly nine months after they locked horns in the first Republican presidential debate.

When asked if he regretted any of his tweets and retweets, including calling the Fox News host a "bimbo" the Republican front-runner asked "did I say that? Excuse me." He could not resist adding "Over your life, Megyn, you've called a lot worse, wouldn't you say?"

Mr Trump also said he understood that Mrs Kelly was simply doing her job and he "liked" where their relationship was now.
The interview seems like a truce in the feud between the two. The Fox News journalist, who is 45 years old, appeared to indirectly call Mr Trump a bully.
In the exchange the construction mogul said that he was never bullied as a child, but people can be bullied at any age, at which point the host, show is 45 years old, said "It can happen when you are 45."
Mrs Kelly also challenged the presumptive republican nominee about his comments about a post that mocked the looks of Heidi Cruz, Senator Ted Cruz's wife.
Mr Trump admitted that he "could have done without it" but resisted the term "mistake" adding that as Mrs Cruz was a big part of the electoral campaign she was "fair game."
Mr Trump, put under pressure by the Fox News anchor, admitted that he has come regrets about his behaviour during the electoral campaign, without going into detail. But said he would not be on top now had he acted presidential.
“If I were soft, if I were presidential … in a way it’s a bad word, because there’s nothing wrong with being presidential, but if I had not fought back in the way I fought back, I don’t think I would have been successful,” he told Mrs Kelly.
Mr Trump concluded declaring that if he doesn’t win the election this fall, he’ll consider his campaign a “complete waste.”
“I will say this: If I don’t go all the way, and if I don’t win, I will consider it to be a total and complete waste of time, energy and money,” he said.
Mr Trump's feud with Mrs Kelly followed the first Republican debate in August 2015 when he said he had received "unfair treatment" by the host.
In the offending question the Mrs Kelly listed a series of incidents in which Mr Trump had made controversial statements about women, and asked if they were worthy of an American president. Mr Trump implied afterwards that menstruation played a role in that question, and engaged Fox News in a weeks-long spat.
