Amuneke: Why We Shifted Flying Eagles, IfeanyiUbah Clash
The proposed friendly between Nigerian Football Premier League side IfeanyiUbah FC and the Flying Eagles has been put in hold due to the club’s crucial weekend clash against Enyimba of Aba in Umuahia, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The NPFL side were initially expected to parade some of their fringe players for the game but according to coach of the Flying Eagles, Emmanuel Amuneke, the friendly won’t be helpful to the NPFL side ahead of the Oriental derby.
“We won’t be playing IfeanyiUbah anymore this weekend but we will reschedule the game when we return from Bujumbura,” Amuneke told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“Playing them now could hamper their chances of winning against Enyimba.”
Nigeria’s U-20 side, the Flying Eagles, will take on Burundi in the first leg of their 2017 Africa U-20 Nations Cup qualifying tie on May 21 in Bujumbura with the return fixture taking place on June 11.
The Flying Eagles are African champions at U-20 level.
