Jack Wilshere has denied claims he spat at a pensioner |
Footballer Jack Wilshere has denied he spat at and threatened a 71-year-old neighbour in a row over a giant football net in his garden, writes Keith Perry.
The Arsenal midfielder, 24, was reportedly angered after neighbour Alun Cathcart complained about the 18ft netting Wilshere put up to stop balls getting lost.
Mr Cathcart called police in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, complaining he had been threatened, according to The Sun .
Mr Cathcart was then allegedly subjected to further “intimidation” from the father of Wilshere’s girlfriend, Andriani Michael, who he said he was the footballer’s “close protection operative” during the row on Wednesday.
Mr Cathcart, ex-chairman of Avis Europe, is said to have called police who arrived after £60,000 a week Wilshere had returned to his mansion.
Troubled Wilshere is already being investigated by cops over an alleged assault at a London nightclub last month.
But last night he denied the 'completely untrue' claim that he spat at Mr Cathcart, tweeting: "Today's sun story is completely untrue, me spitting at an OAP? Come on....this is harmful to me and my family!!"
