Flying Eagles Return Monday After Burundi Victory




The Flying Eagles are expected back in Nigeria on Monday.

The Emmanuel Amuneke led side who defeated Burundi 1-0 in the first leg match of the 2017 CAF U-20 African Cup of Nations qualifier played in Bujumbura on Saturday are expected to depart Burundi on Sunday and have a night stopover in Ehtiopia before returning to Nigeria on Monday.


According to a very reliable official in the team, the players will return to Nigeria to continue preparation for the second leg match which comes up on June 10 in Calabar.

“We are leaving Burundi on Sunday morning to Ethiopia where we will observe a day stopover before heading to Nigeria on Monday”, an official said

Winners of the two-legged tie will face Sudan for a place in the tournament proper in Zambia next year.

Nigeria are the defending champions, having won the continental crown a record seven times.
