Rihanna Launches A College Scholarship Programme for Foreign Students
Pop Star, Rihanna has announced that she would be helping students out in their tertiary education thanks to a new scholarship fund.
Her foundation, the Clara Lionel Foundation (named after her grandparents), has been into supporting health, arts, and education initiatives since 2012—but now, scholarships would be available for students who meet specific criteria.
As a Barbados native, Rihanna is giving scholarships to citizens or natives of Barbados, Cuba, Haiti, Brazil, Grenada, Guyana, or Jamaica who have been accepted to a university in the United States for the 2016 to 2017 school year.
The scholarship is based on merit (GPA, work experience, and community/volunteering experience), a personal essay, and “unusual personal or family circumstances.” Awards range from $5,000 to $50,000 and are renewable for three years (depending on GPA).
Applications are due by June 10th. So if you’re a student who meets all the criteria —it’s time to go to work, work, work. Click here to get started.
