Jose Mourinho has reportedly not yet agreed to take over as the new Manchester United boss.
The former Chelsea chief has been repeatedly linked with a switch to Old Trafford, with current manager Louis van Gaal coming under fire throughout the campaign.
Despite Mourinho's continued flirtations with the United hotseat, the Portuguese does not yet have an agreement in place with the club, according to Sky Sports.
No formal approach has been made by the United hierarchy, who are believed to be mulling over the fate of Van Gaal, even though the Dutchman could still finish with a Champions League place and the FA Cup this term.
Sky pundit and former Arsenal playmaker Paul Merson has claimed that Mourinho is a must if United are return to the summit of the English game.
Merson said: "I think Jose Mourinho will be the next manager.
"If they want to get anywhere near where they want to be, they need to do it quickly, and there is no manager that can do things quickly like Mourinho."
