Villagers sue Asaba monarch over alleged ostracism

The people of Ogbeogo/Umuelibujor Village, in Oshimili South Local Government, Delta State, have sued their traditional ruler, the Asagba, and the Asagba-in-Council before a Delta State High Court sitting in Asaba, over their purported
ostracism from the rest of Asaba.

The suit is informed by the alleged denial of their rights to participate in activities of the town by traditional organs of Asaba.
They are urging the court to determine whether the Asagba of Asaba and his traditional council are above the law and whether the action is not in conflict with the 1999 Nigerian constitution, as amended.
