Some Finnish technology companies are increasingly setting eyes on West Africa, with special focus on Nigeria, following Nigeria-Finland progressive trade partnership in key areas of both countries economy. Having been noted as a key driver in international trade, and Africa’s largest market, the incentives to enter Nigeria are strong for Finnish companies looking to expand their footprint, and to provide innovative solutions that would further boost local business and benefit the Nigerian consumer.
According to a statement by Finnish Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency, Pirjo, SuomelaChowdhury, the arrival of over 7 fast growing ICT companies to Nigeria from Finland, will positively enhance both countries’ economies.
The statement further disclosed that there is space in the Nigerian market, notably in the technology area, where Finnish technical know-how and innovative solutions can provide added value, stressing that this is a game opening exchange with plans for future follow-ups and stronger relations.
Also delivering his speech, Finland Program Director, Kimmo Aura said that the companies coming to Nigeria represent longstanding know – how in connectivity platforms, mobile infrastructure, security and authentication, operations management, digital campaign and learning solutions, adding that, the rapid transition from 2G to 3G, reaching 4G,creates new requirements for further development of network infrastructure capacity and capabilities.
“As markets are fluctuating globally, Finnish companies are looking to grow and want to be part of as well as contribute to the progress of a quickly evolving market”, Kimmo also said.
The delegation expected to be in Nigeria from 25th to 29th April, 2016, are part of the Connectivity from Finland growth program, and are in a perfect position as they can provide needed solutions for operators such as platforms for service implementation and mobile network solutions as well as applications.
However, it was noted that Finland has introduced countless technologies and digital services to the world through global players such as Nokia, and at the same time the country’s digital success story is the net sum of many factors, including an almost national obsession with technology and all things digital.
